Honda Civic ES (2001–2005): Which Parts Fit Your Year

The Honda Civic ES (chassis ES1/ES2) is one of the most common cars on Jamaican roads, and one of the most common parts mistakes is ordering front-end parts for the wrong year. Honda facelifted the Civic in 2004, so a 2001–2003 car and a 2004–2005 car use different headlights, bumpers, grille and taillights even though the body shell is the same. Always confirm your exact year — send your chassis number on WhatsApp before you buy.

The 2004 facelift — what changed

For 2004, Honda revised the front and rear lights and bumpers. The 2004–2005 headlights have separate high and low beams and amber turn signals, while the 2001–2003 units are a different design. These parts do not swap between the two periods without also changing the surrounding panels.

  • Headlights: 2001–2003 and 2004–2005 are different — not interchangeable
  • Front bumper and grille changed with the facelift
  • Taillight wiring and lens differ between the periods
  • Hood, fenders and doors are shared across 2001–2005

Engine and gearbox

Most Jamaican Civic ES cars run the D17A engine with either a 5-speed manual or the SLXA/BMXA 4-speed automatic. The automatic is the part we are asked for most — they wear and the shift solenoids fail. If you need a gearbox, tell us auto or manual and your chassis so we match the right unit.

  • D17A 1.7L engine — confirm VTEC vs non-VTEC
  • SLXA 4-speed auto is high demand — test before buying
  • Shift solenoids are a common, cheaper repair before a full gearbox

What to confirm before you order

For any Civic ES part, we need the exact year (for front-end parts), auto or manual (for drivetrain), and ideally the chassis number. Send a photo of the old part if you are unsure — it is the fastest way to a correct match.

Frequently asked

Will a 2003 Civic headlight fit my 2005 Civic?

No. The 2004 facelift changed the headlights, bumper and grille. A 2001–2003 headlight will not fit a 2004–2005 Civic ES. Confirm your exact year with us first.

Is the Civic ES automatic gearbox interchangeable across years?

The SLXA/BMXA 4-speed auto fits 2001–2005 Civic ES 1.7 automatics, but always confirm auto vs manual and your chassis before ordering.
